Curly Fuzz Poodle

Image
I came upon this post on John K's blog . The designs are very rough, sketchy and full of energy...wonderful stuff, everyone should follow his blog. Anyway, I just had to try and model him...I presume it's a he :) The sketches were more an inspiration than anything else. The hands give him a feeling of a fighter, someone not to be messed with. After all, he seems like he has been picked on and teased by all the other cartoon characters for years. The balls of fuzz are just there as placeholders for now.

Raygun turntable

Steampunk Raygun from Kuzey3d on Vimeo . Here's a cool turntable animation I did of the steampunk ray gun. IT includes a wireframe view of the whole model...for those who like them. I'll be making many more of these...loads of fun :)

3D Character Tutorials

Image
I can't believe I haven't seen these before...they are wonderful examples of box modelling in Lightwave. There is no audio, but you get text pop-ups telling you whats happening and which tools are used etc. It's my kind of modelling...the Boy tutorial takes you from start to finish. Check them out now: www.3digital-tuto.com I recommend downloading the QT versions Here ....for safe keeping!!

Tin Knight: done

Image
Finally finished the modelling part :) I do like that semitransparent look, those objects were placed on a second layer and Object Dissolve was set to 80% in the Object Properties panel .

Tin Knight: update

Image
Just an update..it's taking longer than I thought but that's life. I love the wireframe renders, they make everything look so much cooler. The feathers on the shield I took off my Astrix model and modified it a touch.

iDogs

Image
Are they dogs or lambs or something else..hehe. Sketched on my iPod Touch....using one of the those free paint apps.

Tin Knight: wip 2

Image
I redid his man skirt, along with a few other things...it's looking much better now. Hopefully, he'll be complete by the time the weekend is over :)

Tin Knight: wip

Image
Here's a wip of a new tin toy...the mighty Tin Knight. His visor needs a clean up, I'm not too happy with the amount of polygons in the round bits....but it's getting there :)

Medieval Tower

Image
Here's a medieval styled Tower that I did many moons ago. The idea was to keep it all quads and avoid using Booleans...I so hate booleans :O)

Gripper

Image
This weeks speed modelling challenge is all about physical activity and here's my attempt at those hand gripper objects. Modelling took around 40 minutes at a casual pace. Get the Lightwave format file or the OBJ format file if you wish.

Beware of the killer Node :O)

Image
Haha.....the problem wasn't a bug in the Simple Skin node or with Lightwave itself. Just overlapping polygons in my sofa model....go figure. So, if you ever see a huge jump in render times when using Simple Skin ....check your models :O) I just need to go through and clean up all the nodes before unleashing them to the world..stayed tuned. Here's the latest tests that don't use Simple Skin ....the render times are way faster.

More Node Experiments

Image
I haven't found the solution to the node bug from the previous post...but I have been getting some interesting results.

Boo: Tin Ghost

Image
Introducing the Tin Ghost. He tries to be the best ghost possible, but can never scare anyone...even other toys :)

Tin Reaper

Image
He's always late for the big occasions and missed Halloween....poor thing.

Asterix

Image
Mmmm...Asterix and his buddies are 50 years old :) Here's a very old and unfinished model of the star...just for the occasion.

The Jetsons Building

Image
This weeks speed challenge was on Architecture and I wanted to do something from the Jetsons cartoon. They have such cool designs on the show...from cars to buildings and everything in between. I just wished there was better reference material on the web. Anyway, this is how far I got in 60 minutes.
