Node experiments

Image
So here is a fantasy model, a dragon shield that I decided to bring into the 21st century with new surfaces. If you haven't already get yourself a copy of DP Kit -additional nodes for LW and they are super cool. I'm using the Deformer node in this experiment. First experiment: A touch of metal but more stone looking. The only problem is the areas circled, they look like the smoothing setting for the surface is unchecked. I still haven't found a solution to this...otherwise it's a great texture. Second experiment: There is an Incidence node as part of the surface. I changed the range from 180 to 90 and this is the result. The good thing is the earlier problem is gone but now it's a totally different surface...although still interesting. Third experiment: Played around with some other settings and got a marble kinda thing going on. It would be interesting to see how this one can go. Fourth experiment: Now we're cooking, don't you like great accidents wh...

Banned and Pedal Car: Wip

I got banned from Newtek forums for calling an idiot on the forums...well, you guessed it an idiot. There I was, having an grown up conversation about the Cocoa version of LW9.6 and Newtek's lack of action and or information on the subject. Then someone who doesn't belong in the thread (a troll) pops in and has a go at me for no reason at all. I tried to be a little funny and avoid any swearing, vulgar language....it didn't work. We both got the same one week ban...which is the funniest part of the whole thing. I get the same ban for responding to someone attacking me...that is plain stupid on Newtek's part. btw, that statement would probably result in another one week ban. In the past I would have got a warning and that would have been it. At the very least, the aggressor should have got a ban of 2 to 4 weeks. Anyway...enough of that. Back on topic, this is how far I got with the pedal car in two hours.

Here's another old character resurfaced in Lightwave 9.6. I'm starting to get the hang of using nodes and I like how he's skin turned out.

Haha...I finally won a speed modelling challenge with this design. Based on the Peugeot Design Contest 2008 winner, it's a great design btw. It took 3 attempts to even get close. It's for a vehicle race animation challenge on the Newtek Forums and I thought I'd add some guns to make it more interesting. Hopefully, it'll be available for download soon...still needs a few tweaks here and there :)
