Crabulus: Fan Art Wip

Image
It's not that often I come across a character that I like instantly, but this was one of them. Designed by Steve Lambe, you can see the progress on his Blog . From what I can gather, it's for a cool looking show called Fanboy and Chum Chum . I haven't seen any epsiodes yet, but it looks different from what's already out there and that's a very good thing. I might finish him one day but enjoy the wips for now :)

Watch the Lion Dance

Image
Here are some photos of the Chinese New Year celebrations taken many years ago. I must say, they are the best celebrations I have ever attended, they last for two days and are packed with martial arts, lion and dragon dances, food, music and much much more. You can see a more photos on my flicker page :O)

TNGViewer: Cool New Software

Image
There is a cool new 3d viewer being developed called TNGViewer . It also has a web component so you can view presentations in a web browser with a free TNGPlayer Plugin . The stand alone application is so much fun and great for client presentations etc...you can even export movies of your objects. The cool thing is it can open Lightwave object and scene files as well other formats like FBX, 3DS, OBJ, check the website for full details...go now :) You may have problems with scenes made in Lightwave 9.6...I couldn't get one to load but objects work great. PS. This issue is being looked into...these guys are great!!

Ray Gun: the saga continues

Image
Experiments with the cool Grit Node continues. This is one finished version, I love how the handle surface turned out...very grungy. I'll do another version with more contrast in the metal textures and supply the presets for both sets. Stay tuned :)

Grit Node: Must have !!

Image
This is wonderful, if you don't have this node then you need to get it now... Download Grit Node Here !! I've been trying to create a rust via nodes in Lightwave ever since I finished my ray gun model and now it's too easy. Here is a quick five minute test using the standard scene from preset central . I think I should have used the 10cm scene instead of the 1m one, but you get to see a little hint of rust :) I modified the scene object so there's more areas for the rust to show up. The same node as it looks on my ray gun model with out modifications....the potential is great. Here is the Rust Preset , download it and have fun.

I'm Hungry for a Hippo

Image
I never actually played with the Hungry Hippos game as a kid but it sure looks like fun. Another speed modelling challenge, this is how far I got at 64 minutes. And this is the final version.
